Scratches in my engine and my heart...

It's a sad day in moped land. I finally got some tools to take a look at the cylinder and cylinder wall on my Pug, and they don't appear to have been loved and lubed for a long time.

The oil rings on the cylinder are nicked as well, but my camera couldn't take pictures with that amount of detail.

Due to problems with the engine tension spring, a fin on the engine head broke off as I was detaching the motor (I'm still kicking myself for that one). I don't know how much extra heat that's going to cause, hopefully not too much.

I'm wondering if I need to buy a engine head/body/piston kit. A 70cc kit would go better with a Dellorto 15/15 anyway - I've heard that you engine will run too rich unless you switch to a bigger bore and exhaust system. I'm not sure I can stomach the cost though - a new Dellorto carb. with a cable choke, a new clutch cable, and a kit like this one on treatland.tv (http://www.treatland.tv/peugeot-malossi-70cc-cylinder-kit-p/peugeot-malossi-70cc-cast-iron.htm) would cost upwards of $200, not including a bunch of smaller things I have yet to get - switches, a fuel line, handles, etc. I could stick with the stock Gurtner carb. so the engine wouldn't run too rich (no-one seems to like these, although they are often called 'reliable'), get my engine bored somewhere and buy an oversized piston, but this might end up costing almost as much as the 70cc kit.

Ideas?
